Welcome to my life of art website.
I've culled together artmaking. I was born in Washington, DC in the summer of 1981 and have been fascinated by people, their stories, and lives ever since.
I make art work to process the outside and internal world in which I live. I am zealously curious, self-improvement type, and soak up what's surrounds me.
I am most moved by the work I have done to help others process and move positively through the world. This includes working every summer from 7th grade until college graduation at a therapeutic day camp for children where I had to opportunity to get to know and work with over 500 individuals. I went on to graduate from Virginia Tech with a Psychology degree and was fortunate to study in the Ticino province of Switzerland, intern on Capitol Hill for a Congressman from Arizona, volunteer with the YMCA, and co-led an Alternative Spring Break trip to Trinidad & Tobago.
Before moving to Portland, Oregon, I substitute taught in Arlington, Virginia from preschool to high school and worked in mental health services with youth as an AmeriCorps volunteer in New Hampshire. I've enjoyed international travel to Egypt, Ireland, across Europe, West Africa, and Costa Rica.
I make art and professionally I support community development, affordable housing, and homeless services to ensure all people have safe and stable housing. Along the way, I've had great art experiences and originally came to Oregon to focus more on art. I've had the privilege to display across Portland and made an art hiatus around 2009 to focus on graduate school in Public Administration.
You'll see that I've got a range of art work from digital collages, to site-based work ("The Gambia", work at Dignity Village, and enjoy working in a variety of mediums.
If you are interested in connecting and potential collaborating, please send me an e-mail at connor.j.mcd@gmail.com and you can also check me out on LinkedIn.
